Come on out to our first camp of the season at 98-Acre Woods in Lanark. During this camp your scout will gain valuable camping skills, will learn to use his knife and other camping equipment safely and will be able to meet and work with his/her patrol. The camp is foundational to our camping season.
We leave On Friday Sept 24 at 6 PM from Orleans United Church. All drivers will be provided with maps.
Scouts Canada states that it is the parents responsibility to arrange for and transport youth to events and in the event of an accident, individual insurance applies. Here is the quotation from the By-Laws Policies and Procedures:
"Volunteers who drive Scouting members to and
from meetings, camps, jamborees, etc. do so at their own risk. Scouts Canada does not
cover the cost of damage to their automobiles, nor does it cover deductible amounts, loss
of discounts or loss of use. Third party claims made against owners of vehicles are NOT
covered by Scouts Canada. Scouts Canada strongly suggests leaders, other Scouting members and/or parent
volunteers who use their vehicles to transport passengers carry a minimum of $1,000,000
Liability insurance, and further recommends $1,000,000 per passenger on their vehicle to
ensure they are fully protected. Volunteers who drive Scouting members do so at their
own risk."
Presently, we have enough volunteers to carpool for everyone. The address is 3747 Watson Corners Road County Road 8 Lanark Highland Township. See the parent information sheet (attached below).
Please contact Scouter Joni if you can drive or if you have questions at 613-837-4686. During camp, if you must reach your youth, contact Gary Boyd at the previous number or at 613-299-8891. He will be contacted by Joni once a day for messages. There is spotty cell service at the camp and we must run up the road to conduct these calls, so they will occur in the am.Attachments
