all day environmental project
This project is being coordinated by the youth as part of their Pathfinder requirements. Participation goes towards Voyageur level requirements and a couple challenge badges too.
This will be our 2nd trip to the dunes to help reclaim this unique environment from the encroaching forest. The creatures which call this area home should be active than when we were first there in November.
What to bring: a hat, camera, sun screen and at least 1litre water.

0815 Meet at OUC and depart in Scouter vehicles (Scouters Diana, Roger and Peter attending)
09:00 – 09:05 Welcome and brief Orchid Tour participants and scouts about PSD project (Dick)
09:05 – 09:25 Pinhey Sand Dunes over view (Pete)
09:25 – 09:30 Group assignment to tour participants and scouts (Andrew & Henri)
09:30 – 11:00 Orchid & Dunes Tour for Orchid Tour participants (lead by Henri & Pete & Dick)
09:30 – 10:30 Sand sifting and weeding by 8th Orleans Scout Troup (lead by Andrew, Dick and Scout Leaders)
10:30 – 10:45 Health Break (Scouts)
10:45 – Noon Continue dune maintenance (Scouts)
Noon – 13:00 Lunch Break
13:00 – 14:00 Biodiversity macrophotography (demonstrated by Henri)
14:00 – 15:00 Dunes and Biodiversity Tour for Scouts (Henri, Andrew and Pete)
