Come on out to this annual camp at the region's "Camp Opemikon". You will have the opportunity to watch the great "Siege" that the Venturers will take part in. There will be flour everywhere from their catapulted canons. It will be very exciting. Also there will be an international delegation from Geneva. You will see that Scouts is truly an international organization.
Scouts who missed the 98 Acre Woods camp or who have never been to Medic Alert Camp will learn safe camping skills in the woodsman program, others will be building things using lashing in the pioneering program, some second year scouts will take the first aid course and third years learn valuable leadership skills. Scouters Werner, Pete and Eric are taking part as program leads. Scouts will meet other scouts from the Voyageur region.
The camp is catered, so we will not be cooking and this is the reason for the high cost of the camp.
There will be a Scout's Own and a formal Campfire that we will participate in.
See the detailed information attached. Cheques for either $50 (woodsman, pioneering and leadership program) or $100 (first aid) are due to Scouters Karen or Werner on Monday 4th October. Please make them out to "8th Orleans Scouts". Scouts who pass the first aid course tests and performance criteria will obtain the Red Cross first aid certificate, and the scout first aid challenge badge. If you think that they are not ready for this, please let us know.
