8th Orleans Cub Pack "A" - Second Year Canoe Trip
Due to lower than expected participation we have decided to make a change in plans for the upcoming canoe trip; we have switched the trip from an overnight camp to a day trip.
We still want to offer our Cubs the canoeing experience that all our Cubs normally get, so we are going ahead with a slightly altered plan.
We will meet at the church at 8:30am on Saturday June 15th, and arrive back at the church the same day at 8:00pm. Our plan is to canoe the Rideau Canal from the Nicholson's Lock to the Burritts Rapids Lock, then spend the day hiking/canoeing in and around Burritts Rapids before heading back to the church.
Please note the cost for this trip has been reduced down to $0 per cub; we will be covering the entire cost of this trip from the fundraising we did this year.
Here is the kit list for the trip:

To Wear:
• Shorts or long pants (depending on weather)
• T shirt (8th Orleans group T shirt preferred)
• Shoes (that might get wet)
• 8th Orleans necker
• A properly fitting PFD with a whistle
• A paddle of the correct size
• Wide brimmed hat
To Bring:
• A 1 litre water bottle (we discourage single use water bottles)
• Sun screen
• Insect repellent
• Any required medication
Optional:
• Spare shoes (optional as the short duration of the trip means that Cubs can survive with wet feet)
• Sunglasses
• Camera (be aware, it may get wet! A sealed zip lock bag will keep it safe when not in use)
If you have problems acquiring any of the required items let me know and I should be able to help.
All packed items (especially extra clothing) should be waterproofed inside sealed plastic garbage bags inside the duffle bag/backpack – the garbage bag should not be the outside layer as it will easily get punctured.
