For this Cub meeting we will be meeting at Mer Bleue instead of the church.

This meeting is covering off the Black Star B3 requirement, and we will also be investing some youth and leaders while we are there. It is important for all Cubs to attend this meeting in order to progress in the completion of their black star.

We will be meeting at Parking Lot 22 at Mer Bleue (see directions below) between 6:15 and 6:25, and we will be starting our walk through the Mer Bleue bog boardwalk at 6:30 sharp.

Please note the following:
  • Dress for the weather! This is a rain, snow, or shine event.
  • The only part of the uniform required is the 8th Orleans necker to be worn outside of your jacket (ie. must be visible at all times); the rest of the uniform can be left at home.
  • Wear flat-bottom footwear. The boardwalk is made of wooden planks so raised heels may get stuck between boards.
  • The walking path is mostly wooden boardwalk, but the last part of the path is packed dirt/sand. It looks well drained but if it has recently rained it may be a little muddy or slippery. Sneakers will be fine if it is mostly dry, but boots may be a better choice if it has been wet.
  • Parents are welcome to join us on our walk, but are asked to follow behind the cub pack. If you would prefer to wait behind there is a covered Pavilion near the parking lot with outhouse-style toilets available nearby.
  • If you are late arriving you will find us on the boardwalk.

The directions to Parking Lot 22 in Mer Bleue are:
  • From the church, head south on Orleans Blvd towards Innes Road.
  • Turn right onto Innes Road towards Ottawa.
  • Turn left onto Anderson Road (just past the last exit to Blackburn Hamlet, before you reach Blair Road)
  • Turn left onto Ridge Road (following the signs to Parking Lot 22)
  • Parking Lot 22 is at the end of Ridge Road.
  • Click here for the Google Map directions (total driving time from Orleans United Church is around 20 minutes)
